The green and lovely woods are gone
We can see their pegs alone.
Birds and flies had stopped their songs
We can hear their sighs of pangs
Streams and rivers had dried and gone
Do you see their beds of grave?
Where had gone those kings of woods?
Where had gone their fearful preys?
Caves and sages died and gone, but
We had built up caves in minds!
Here are, those of crooked ways,
Calmly working in their place.
Woods are here within our minds
And woods are there around our shells!
We can see their pegs alone.
Birds and flies had stopped their songs
We can hear their sighs of pangs
Streams and rivers had dried and gone
Do you see their beds of grave?
Where had gone those kings of woods?
Where had gone their fearful preys?
Caves and sages died and gone, but
We had built up caves in minds!
Here are, those of crooked ways,
Calmly working in their place.
Woods are here within our minds
And woods are there around our shells!
